District 32-5A: PSJA Southwest Javelinas Defeats Donna North 52-8

(Pharr, Tx)-Unless something drastic happens in the next three weeks, the PSJA Southwest Javelinas (5-2, 3-1) will be headed to the State 5A playoffs for the first time school history as they defeated Donna North High School (0-7, 0-4) 52-8 at PSJA Stadium on Thursday night. The Hogs will play Edcouch-Elsa next week folloowed by Mercedes and Brownsville Pace. The Javelinas are in the drivers seat and need only one win to clinch a playoff spot. The Javelinas totaled 394 yards on offense and held the Chiefs to only 161 yards.

District 31-5A: Edinburg Sabercats Clinch Playoff with win over Valley View 49-14

(Edinburg, Tx)-Four interceptions in the first half put the Edinburg Vela HS Sabercats (7-1, 3-1) up 28-7 at the half, including a 93-yard touchdown run by Robert Guerra to win 49-14 over Valley View High School (1-6, 1-2) on Thursday night at Cats Stadium in District 31-5A. Head coach Michael Salinas talked about playing better defense and will now lead his Sabercats team against Rio Grande City (3-4, 1-2) next week. (Brownsville, Tx)-It was the perfect birthday present for Brownsville Pace Vikings head coach William Deen as his team finally won its first District 32-5A game with a 42-21 victory over Brownsville Porter on Thursday night at Sams Stadium.
