(La Joya, Texas)-The 29-5A District Champions, Laredo United Longhorns (30-1) came alive in the fifth and sixth innings to end their series with a double play as the La Joya Palmview Lobos mounted some what of a short come back attempt in the Class 5A Bi-District Championships on Saturday afternoon. Game Two ended 12-1 in six innings and the Longhorns will now play Weslaco in the area playoffs. Longhorn pitcher Sergop Pollorena hit a two-run homer to sealed the Longhorns win. “He is a senior and a leader on the this team,” says Laredo United head coach J.J. Gomez. The series between the Longhorns and Panthers will be a first since their last meeting in 2007 when Weslaco won. “It will be a tough series,” says Weslaco head baseball coach Eddie Serna.
